Greensboro, NC - Conservative recognizes private auto negatives

...Politics and the free market got us where into the oil-burning, car-trapped mess we're in.

But if we reversed government policies and started encouraging carless or low-car neighborhoods, we already know that people flock to such neighborhoods wherever they exist, and property values rise....The Ornery American

Though all this hyper auto use isn't the result of a "free market", this is the result big business interfering with government.

Exactly! The official line of conservatives is that massive auto subsidies do not exist. So any reduction to them is "interfering" with the "free market." But it is interesting that he even recognizes that there is a problem!

I would have to agree with the comments that have been made, there is no "free market", and only government can change, and seeing there is a problem they now have to act on it in order for the change to begin.
