This makes a valid point; it makes more economic sense to get away from the "me, my, mine" thought patterns and become more communal-minded. Although it makes people of my generation think of "hippie communes", car-sharing and similar concepts, for many people, are (as Mr. Spock would say) "highly logical". When I was considering a new vehicle ten years ago, I thought of buying a full size pickup, choosing instead a Honda Accord. If I do need to schlep large items, the Home Depot has a rental truck that's a lot cheaper than having (and fueling) my own truck as a "daily driver". (I live in an area where car-share isn't that practical)
